Why doesn't DW use cast hoops??

I personally think that the reason that DW uses triple flanged hoops exclusively on all of their drums is for no other reason than the simple fact that triple flanged hoops work best for the sound that DW is trying to achieve with their drums. It has nothing to do with the fact that triple flanged hoops are cheaper to produce or lighter or whatever. Ever drum company has a concept when it comes to the sound that they are trying to achieve with the way they make and outfit their drums and the sound that DW is trying to achieve obviously works best with triple flanged hoops in their opinion, hence the fact that DW uses triple flanged hoops exclusively . Also I am not trying to stick up for DW because in my opinion I like die cast better, use them exclusively on all my drums and personally think that Tama make the best drums in the world. I am just giving my opinion...

While DW True Hoops are standard on Collector's Series drums, DW makes and offers diecast hoops as an option as well, as quicksticks mentioned. While I'm a fan of diecast hoops and Tama drums, I have to give respect to DW True Hoops. They are stronger than diecast hoops (according to Gene Okamoto, Pearl Drums legend), and allow for a little more resonance than diecast hoops.
