^^ they look so much better in person.
Kind of a soft, powderey matte finish on the shell.
Matte black finish with shiny black hardware = amazing.
Is there an explanation why you can never get (or at least i have never seen) black screw things (see the SILVER thing that screws into the BLACK lugs to hold the BLACK rim on the BLACK snare?)??psalm 150 v.5: "praise Him with the clash of cymbals"

And yeah, UC's are very very sexy, and awesome sounding snares. I just wish they didn't cost so much.

I just picked up the 14x5 on Ebay a few days ago. It arrived (oddly) via FedEx at 9 PM last night. I'll probably post some pics with a short review later tonight. But, what I can say for sure, holding this thing in my hands, is that it's a classy, beautiful piece of metal! The man called Shaggy.

Great snare, the tension rods on the UC are stainless steel and no black finish would stick. I love the UC sound, bright but not piercing, full and rich. They are built well too.FS: 6.5x14 Craviotto mahogany, 8 lugs, 30deg edges, minty. $500+ship.
