    I really want the sound Joey had on Slipknot's s/t album, but I fear I might regret not getting the sig.

    you can never get a sound from what you hear on a cd, that is all from the mics and editing.

          i would urge you not to follow that statement

          i) as much as i could see what slybond meant (it is obvious after all - joey jordison snare drum - snare drum based on joey's likes - what joey likes is the sound he uses), i don't think he actually considered it. What, after all, is the 'JJ sound' ?

          ii) i believe the picture i have here is from the tour of the ''s/t'' album and that is not anything like the JJ signature from what i see (as in something similar to/what the JJ signature is based on).

          iii) this question should be surely best addressed by SLIPKNOT1.

              My original plan for my Dunnett was to have a 13x6.5 but after much talking with Ronn Dunnett...I decided on a 14x6.5 because you can get a 13x6.5 sound from it when you tune it. If you plan on spending the money, then get something that is going to be versatile for every situation you may be in, in the next few years. A Dunnett is an investment so treat it as that, get something you know you'll want to keep playing a few years down the road.

              I started off playing rock, then moved to punk, then back to rock, then to jam stuff, then rock, then funk, etc. You're types of music will change over the years is basically what I'm saying, so get something that will fit for those different situations.

              That being said, I'd suggest getting a stainless 14x6.5 Dunnett with triple flanged hoops, puresound wires, and if you wait a little bit you'll get his new strainer the "R2" which is the upgrade from the R class currently offered. He is going to release it at NAMM, and will have pictures of it up on his website shortly before.

              If you go with Dunnett, you wont be disapointed, his stuff is absolutly amazing. You have to pay for it, but you wont regret it.

                Is this even a real pole. Your comparing a Dunnett to a Joey Jordison Signature snare?!?! No contest the Black Steel. I mean, the JJSIG is good, but damn. Dunnett from what i've heard. You won't be dissapointed or let down with the sound of almost ANY Dunnett I believe.

                  I believe JJ used one of his 7x12 OC maple snare to record the last album, or at least parts of the last album. SLIP posted pics a while before the big database crash of 2005...probably back in 2004.

                    Join the masses, buy the JJ. In six months you can sell it on ebay for $50.
                    FS: 6.5x14 Craviotto mahogany, 8 lugs, 30deg edges, minty. $500+ship.

                      You might aswell whip your *** with the 200 dollars then.

                      I would go with the Dunnett Matte Black steel 6.5"x13". The guy makes some nice stuff as does Pearl. This guy specializes in making snare drums though. I would rather go with him than go with a mass produced cheap item that will be worth nothing within a few months of use. Yes the JJ is a nice snare but if you want something you'll probably end up using for years buy the Dunnett. If you decided to sell it, at least you'd be able to replace it right off the bat with a large choice of snares.

                      I'm sure Joey has a few Dunnett snares sitting around on his moms house (if he hasn't baught a new place yet)

                              Probably. A lot of artists use one brand for the snare and then another for drums/hardware/etc..;
