  • Anyone have any thoughts or info on limited birch gum snare drum?

Hey all! Hope that everyone is doing well in these crazy times! Wanted to ask if anyone has any thoughts or experience with the Pearl limited edition 13x7 birch gum snare drum? It looks pretty nice from what I can tell by the few pics that I have seen and actually just went ahead and ordered one today lol!! There is not much info and no videos that I can find about this snare drum, so I thought I would come here and ask your thoughts and or opinions. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dave

I’ve had my eye on those for the past year now and just never pulled the trigger. I’ve seen them at incredibly reasonable prices as well… I’d want to put Mastercast hoops on it and swap the strainer for an SR-150 right away.

The size is one of my faves and I have an LE Steel as well as a Masters Complete in that size that both sound absolutely killer. I just added pics of both. They will never leave my collection.

I hope you love it, but if not, hit me up if you plant to sell or want a trade!
I’m currently selling a few Pearl snares on Reverb.

Thanks very much for the pic! I should be getting the snare in tomorrow, so I'm really looking forward to it! Why haven't you tried that puppy out yet?

Haha I need to. I have the enviable problem of having more drums than I do time to play drums. See the link in my signature for details lol

Hahahaha!!! I can definitely understand that! I have my own dum addiction issues as well. I'm down to 3 kits..pearl bcx, pearl sss, and a mapex saturn kit and as of today 5 snare drums..pearl masters maple, birch, Jimmy Degrasso, reference 20 ply, and a mapex saturn. I will add 2 more to my collection tomorrow, which will be the pearl limited birch gum and a mapex black panther wasp. I have just gotta say that I love pearl drums and they make the most killer snare drums in my opinion. They ROCK!!

I have the same addiction… I have three snare drums that I’ve modded and tuned up that have yet to be set up behind the kit!

Got the snare earlier today and took it right to band practice this evening and used it for the whole practice. Sounded great with just a quick tightening of the top and bottom heads. I think after I have time to mess with it a bit more, this thing will be excellent. Beautiful drum and very well made. 2 thumbs up Pearl!
