  • Old snare maybe

This snare was giving to me a while ago even before I thought about playing drums (who figure). It sat in the closet until one day I decided to play., I know it’s any entry level snare so I decided to take it apart and maybe oil the switch on the side. I did notice that the rim is not flat but angled. Everything is original even the heads and wire which I might change Click image for larger version

The heads look like they definitely have to be changed. Probably the snare wires also. It appears that there are some dents on the top rim. Also the throw-off should be taken apart and thoroughly cleaned so it works smoothly. Show some photos when you have rejuvenated the snare.

Yes it does have dents on the rim and when I was putting the hoops on I had to adjust it to fit properly. That tells me something is out of round. Pearl flower pot it will become and I can buy a great snare of metal or maple wood.

Well, if nothing else, see what you could do with the snare anyway. If you think it is out of round, measure across and verify if it really is. Also, put it on a flat surface to see if is level. You might be surprised how it turns out.

Measurement was done and the shell is great but the hoop is not fully round. A very very slight oval.
