    Hi all. I have just bought an old Pearl kit with this 10 lug snare. Any info about year it was made etc. Thanks in advance. Cheers Danny

    Appears to be a 1970 Pearl "Custom metal snare drum". If it is a steel shell it is #6356.

    If it is a brass shell (magnet will not stick to shell) then it is #6357

      Hi Pearl Bix. Thanks for your info. It is the brass model. It’s polishing up great. I’m going to restore the whole kit. What is the benefit of brass over the steel model? Is the rest of the kit the same vintage. Cheers Danny Click image for larger version

          The benefit would be that the steel was more common, less expensive, and not as sought after as your brass model here. The difference in price when you go to sell could be as much as $100-$200 more than you might get for the steel version. That is, if you plan to sell it at all. I'd keep it!
