It is the holy grail to some people. To others, it's the Tama Bell Brass, or the Paiste 2002 Bronze, ... , and the list goes on. It may not sell for $6000, but it will sell for thousands, if the owner lets it go.

It's all just a matter of what you want, and can afford. I want the new rear-engine 2020 Corvette, but the roads around here are more conducive to SUV ownership... plus I hated scraping the front end of my old Vette every time I entered a driveway/parking lot with any sort of incline.

$6,000 for a snare is obscene. I’m sure it sounds great and is well made, but it’s heavy and clunky. There’s way too much lug going on. Like Matt said, there are other “holy grail” snares that cost 1/3 of what the Sonor costs and I’m sure the Sonor doesn’t sound three times as good.

Speaking of "Holy Grail" snare drums... this one is insane!

        https://reverb.com/item/29456084-the...-vintage-drums

It's a 1925 Ludwig, made of gold and silver. It comes with a deposit receipt, and a letter from the retailer... both from 1925. There is also an article explaining how the swastika was a good sign before Hitler stole it. If you look at all of the photos in this Reverb listing, you'll see a US Army plane with a swastika on it. Anyway, this is the Holy Grail of vintage snare drums.

I wouldn’t play that drum if you paid me $125,000. It’s kind of hard to disregard the “Hitler” thing.

But you understand that the symbols on this drum, and on the US Army plane have nothing to do with Hitler.

I fully understand, and I’m sure a swastica wouldn’t have bothered me prior to Hitler and WW2. But it’s kind of hard to forget hitler and the third Reich
