  • Tico Torres signature snare

Hi all , I've a Tico signature snare and wondering what heads you folk are using on yours , I prefer Evans heads and I'm using a coated reverse centre dot batter side and hazy 300 reso side , also what tuning do you prefer for this drum ?? Reason why I'm asking is because it needs a new head and also I got advised to try a 42 strand snare wire but I'm not really liking it tbh , cheers

It sounds like you got some bad advice. I’m almost certain the TT came with 20 strands of snares, which means the snare beds were shaped to accept 20 strands of snares, not 42. With 42 snares on a bed designed for 20, you’ll wind up with the outer wires being tight and the center wires loose. I can understand why you’re not liking the sound.

Also, what is under the snare end caps and why?

Thanks for your reply , yeah I never liked the 42 strand wires and I've never really found a head or tuning of the drum I'm totally happy with , I got advised to use them wires by a drum shop , I've put insulation tape under because the 4inch curve of the wire was marking the head and I was worried it would cut in to it
