Another classic beauty. I also have one of these. It's really hard to find them in mint condition any longer.

How do you store your snare drums?

Many years ago, I built a snare rack out of PVC pipes. At that time, I planned to keep my drums in that. The problem is that it only holds about 18 drums. At the time I built it, I thought that would be PLENTY big enough. Now, it holds a very small percentage of my drums. I may be taking it down soon since space is becoming a bit of an issue, and I will be able to store more drums if I just put them in bags in stacks rather than the rack. Drums in the rack also get dusty pretty quickly if not attended to.

If I have the factory boxes, I store them there. They stack well and are already labeled as to what is inside. Others are in a variety of bags and cases that I have also obtained a large quantity of. I actually just added 15 Ludwig snare bags for a real steal. Part of this project is to help me organize my collection a bit as well as printing labels for all of the bagged drums to make it easier to find what I am looking for.

PS - I'll be away for the rest of the week, so expect regular posts to resume next week.

I think storing them in the original boxes is a great idea (as long as you put some paper or silicon in with them because the cardboard can get damp).

I have about 30 snare drums and I started storing them in the Protection Racket AAA Rigid snare cases last year. They also stack well and are waterproof. However, at about $80 a piece, it is the expensive way to go.

I got this drum on eBay in 2018. It was built in 2004. It has TB50 tube lugs, SR015 throw-off, and MasterCast hoops. The shell is 10-Ply (12.5mm) maple. There are some lacquer cracks that go all the way around the drum. While that's a little disappointing, it allowed me to get a really nice deal on a great drum.

Those are nice. I like the matte finish better on these than the glossy lacquer finish.

These can be purchased pretty cheap, so I often buy them just to get the ARL and SRL hardware for other snare builds.

For my collection, it is important to me that all of the hardware is as it would have been from the factory, but I really like some of your modded drums. The firecrackers with ARL lugs were really cool looking.

                        Thanks.

Sometimes I update the hardware to match the Masterworks upgrades.

However, I do a lot of custom "Pearl" snares using the ARL hardware as well. I like how the ARL lugs look on metal shells. The SR-150 strainer is my favorite for all snare drums.

Wow! Never saw that one before.

Too "busy" for my style, but definitely unique.
