From what I can find, the Sapphire Sunburst finish was only available in the catalog from 1994-1996, so it is a pretty rare finish. The double lug also makes this drum more unique since CL65 lugs would have come standard at the time.

I picked up a used MMX in Sapphire Sunburst finish earlier in 2005 because I loved the finish, but the set was not in a configuration that I wanted. I ended up re-selling it pretty quickly, but I still wanted to have the finish represented in my growing collection.

This was released as the October 2011 Snare Club drum. 2011 was also the year that the VBA (Vision Birch Artisan II) series was released. There were several similar drums released from 2010-2012 with different Artisan II coverings.

This drum is a 2-Ply Birch, 4-Ply Poplar (7.5mm total) shell. It has CL-65 lugs, SR-017 throw-off, and RIM1408 hoops.
