  • I have always wanted a Ludwig Acrolite

Yesterday I picked this 70's Acrolite up at a local music go round. Its got a few nicks but other than that its in good shape. I traded some gear I wasn't using for it. I now have a Maple FF , Birch/Kapur & Aluminum snares . It was a good day!

      A must-have. Very nice with the pointy badge, too. I have a pointy-badge 70s 5x14 and a re-issued 6.5", which I love. Enjoy!

Thanks guys, my first luddy and I'm impressed ! I also like the CS batter . It was $150.00 which some might say a bit high price wise but I knew it wouldn't last long. The store had a few others but one was out of round and the other had franken parts. They were $120.00.

Congrats! Those seamless aluminum shells sound so nice.

I have a real soft spot for Ludwig and the acrolites do not disappoint!
I had a Blackrolite, that just slammed. On the lookout.
            Nice grab!

always a good snare to own....ive had a few....i have a friend who collects them and must have more than 20....

for me, it's not the loudest snare, and i always preferred it in softer settings....however, when miced and loosened, it can be pretty loud.

Great drums, but $150? That's too much.

Really? have you looked on ebay ? You must be a Guru on Acro's. Thanks but I'm just fine with the price.

I paid $100 for mine even with it spray painted for an art project:0 but it sounds fantastic after new heads. I currently have a texture coated on it. Would a two ply head change the sound all that much?

I just spotted one on kijiji that looks mint and has Ludwig stock head on it. They are selling an old cb700 kit and that is the snare with it. Made an offer. Doesn't hurt to have a back up right? Haha

This is true. I'm happy with my Acrolite snare and that's all that matters.

That's awesome! Back when I bought the Black Galaxy (Blackrolite) ..in about '07, I paid $90 if memory serves. The increase in popularity coupled with the dollar value has got everything on the rise in price.
A buck fifty is about what I've seen them going for. Noticing music go round's really been upping their prices.
