Nice collection Dale! I have an acrylate also.

You know, I don't think I've ever played an 8 inch snare before. My current one is 5.75 inches deep, and my MRX one is 6 1/2 inches deep. I definitely like that size. But I would be curious to check out an 8 inch deep snare sometime.

Yep. How many plies/what thickness is it? Is it any thinner than the standard shells they use?

8 plies with re-rings. Thickness? I don't know exactly, but it's not a very thick shell that is for sure.

That was what I was wondering. My GMS is (I think) 8 ply maple with no re-rings. I figured this series was possibly thinner as well. Thanks!

I'm thinking 8X14 Jarrah ply Brady and that'll be it. I really don't see the need for any more. As you see I sold two others I really didn't use, thinking of selling another, and really only use 1 regularly. I like sonic options, but I don't think of myself as a gear hoarder. Tough to defend I know when you have 4 kits, but they are all made of different materials or dramatic sizes differences and I sold 2 when I was up to 6 as I really didn't see the need to have ones that were similar.

The 8X14 GMS fiberglass, it simply adds a chamber like effect to it. In the case of the Brady I'm considering, it takes off the bite and allows it to just have a dark tone. The 8X14 with wood hoops has rounded edges so it gives it more body as the edges really give it a softer attack.

It also only has 8 lugs compared to the ten lug standard of their regular snares.

Very nice collection Dale. How does that '15 Blaemire by Jenkins-Martin Fiberglass 6.5X14 sound?

It does not sound like any of my other drums. Sorry, but I have not played with it enough to describe it as anything else but good. It is the first non GMS drum I have bought in 15 years and I bought it in honor of him ,my friend & co-owner/Blaemire archaeologist, Jerry Jenkins. I wish I got it when he was alive. I tried, but it just did not happen. Nevertheless, to Jerry.

Great collection, Dale. Thanks for sharing.

I knew I had a problem when I got my 18th snare. I was able to prune down to 6, and have been clean for about 5 years now.

There are definitely a few addicts on here for sure. I am pretty bad compared to most people in the genres I play, but to some of the people I see on these drum forums, I am nothing.

The only reason I keep it is sentimental value being it was a life's savings I used to get that kit and the story behind it.
To be fair, even if it hadn't been in a fire and waterlogged those rims would still have corroded like that (not the lugs though). They're a long way from the worst I've seen, including on some otherwise mint drums.

Most of the big heavy Mazac diecasts as fitted to Project One, the 2035 (such as yours is, there wasn't a Resonator snare as such and they or the 6.5" version came with Projector kits too at that time), the HR9 and the earlier Signia drums have corroded now. For some reason Prem could never get the chrome to stick to them properly.

Yours is a bit of an oddity as it doesn't have a plinth badge, but there are so many slightly non-standard Premier snares out there that it's not a surprise!

The 2035 and 2032 (6.5" version) were great snares, proper rock beasts with all the cut of birch.

Interesting history on the Premier. Do you have anymore? What is a"plinth badge"?

As much as I loved those drums when I was younger, that rim used to kill me. I am not sure if it is all die cast rims or just the Premier, but that rim used to kill my wrist.

I eventually bought a DW brass coated aluminum 4" X14" piccolo with triple flange rims. They had way more give that I like, but the drum didn't breath. This made me go larger to the 5.5" X 14" GMS listed and then to the 6.5" X 14" GMS & Black Beauty listed until I realized I 6.5" is really the depth that settles right with me.
