BK, does the shell have the scarf joints on the plys? That tends to be a telltale Pearl sign.
No idea. I have no image of the inside of the drum.

Oh, it hasn't been received yet? Sorry. But, yeah, I'd do that first thing because if they are scarf joints, it's a Pearl shell. I'm wondering if the hoops weren't a change someone made post-purchase.

Can't tell if that grain looks like rosewood --

Is that one of your snares? My fingers are crossed... I really hope it's rosewood or something similar. My first masterworks snare was a 13x5 6 ply maple with an outer ply of birds eye maple. Nothing really special about it. I hope this one has got some mojo...

No, just one off the PDF.

For what you purchased it, if it's really a MW and the edges are clean, you got one heck of a deal.

Alan - here's what the factory told us.

According to PMI, they do not have the “actual” specs for the drum here…but, this snare was supposed to mimic the 50th anniversary snare…

              14 x 5.5
7.5mm one ply Maple shell w/ 7.5mm Maple rings
              Standard 45 edges
              Single flange hoops w/claw hooks
              Walnut finish

It's funny... after reading what Al P said, it makes sense. I've seen images of that anniversary snare it looks very similar to that masterworks snare.
And yes... It was a gamble that seems to have paid off for know. It supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I hope it's in good condition. The pictures in the listing were not so good.
