A few months ago, I purchased a 14x8 Maple shell Made In USA Pearl snare (probably '83-'84 model). The drum sounded phenomenal, so I really wanted to prolong its life. The wrap was cracked, so I completely stripped the drum and re-wrapped with a whitewood wrap. I polished the hardware using Autosol. This drum is now my #1 live snare with my band, and it sounds SO good. Cross-sticking on this one is a blast, with a cut like you won't believe. And with the Powerstroke head I now have a rock snare with a lot of body and still a nice crack. It's hard to capture the "wood grain" in this wrap on film, but it looks fantastic. I couldn't be more happy
