Mapex Black Panther Bronze 5.5x14 (Precious Metals)

I have become a bronze snare addict over about the last year or so and I have always loved my 5.5x13 Mapex Phosphor Bronze Black Panther. I also have a 4x14 Legend Seamless Bronze and a 6.5x14 World Max Bronze. Yesterday I added the Mapex Black Panther Bronze 5.5x14 (Precious Metals) to the collection (Big brother to the 5.5x13). It sounds so nice! I also found the 6.5x14 version at a Guitar Center that I toyed with getting, but I probably won't since I already have a 6.5x14 bronze. I found this one at a pawn shop and I got it for $100 out the door (Great Condition!!)

The first pic is when I got it and the second is when I put a wood hoop on top! I love the sound with that wood hoop!

just got one of these from Ebay and I happen to have set of black wooden hoops top and bottom for a snare
Not had chance to really play the drum properly yet (came yesterday)

Do you still like it? Have you still got it? Has it still got the wooden hoops? Do you really think they made a difference and if so what in what way, please?
