The butt plate doesn't look original unless they put those ones on the older snares. Mine is different. I ll post pics when I get home

Well the PO said that the strainer had been replaced by the owner before him. So maybe he did the butt plate too and cheaped out, or the is just the older version.

I only hit it a few times but I have to say, this thing is loud. Gives me a nice sharp crack.

I bought one several months ago that had light blemishes and non-original snares wires. I didn't mind until I found one of the strainer screws had a stripped thread and wouldn't tighten. Returned it for refund. Hope you enjoy yours!

The butt on that snare is not original. Did the seller tell you that the snare was 10-15 years old?

That's what I thought. And, no. I figured it was pretty old because of the super hoop stickers opposed to the engravings, but not that old...

I've had mine since early 2000's... It's done easily close to 100 shows. Never let me down, has plenty of everything for the smallest stage to much bigger.

I have a Evans Hazy on the bottom & a ST Dry vented on top. (Not a REMO fan).

                A great all round snare...

Just pick up a used one on ebay for $112. Description says it is broken and just for parts but the only thing wrong is that there is a hole punched in the resonant head, which I wouldn't have used anyway. I think I got a pretty good deal.
