  • Pacific Snare

I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about this snare, such as its value.

I bought this snare a few years ago off a kid for $30.

The badge has the following info :
    Pacific drums and percussion
    (s/n) 90802
    by drum workshop
    made in taiwan

I've been told it is maple.

    Thanks for your time...

I believe that snare is from their lower line of kits from a while ago. During those years the maple drums were PDP CD, MX or LX. All of those lines of drums had the oval lugs that at the time were reminiscent of the DW workshop series kits. I may be wrong, but that kit appears to be from the Pacific EZ series which was an entry level kit made of basswood or Luan mahogany. I have seen a few of those kits and snares before and it is definitely not maple. If you wax the edges, lacquer the interior and create some snare beds, it should make a decent snare. For $30.00 you didn't put much into it but it isn't worth much more than than though.

The only other snare I've been able to find like mine is a smaller metal snare and always sells for cheap. An employee at Guitar Center told me its worth $200--based on the construction quality, I found that really hard to believe.

        Thank you.

if someone wants to give you 200 for it, take it!!! thats as much as the 5pc kits it came with back in the early 2000's. It's from the EZ line. basswood kits from what i remember. snare might be a lesser quality maple though.

Unload that thing quick especially at that pricing... I would never buy that for that amount. Go sell it before he comes to his senses! SMH

I finally got a response from DW. They say this snare is made of poplar and could be valued at $35-55 today.

That's why I never sold it. It's worth more to me if I keep it versus selling it. And you know GC never would've paid the kind of money (nor half) this guy was talking about.

I got my $30 and more out of it.

you just told us GC said its worth $200.
they pay 40-50% on used gears value. if you get anything above $50 you can laugh all the way back at your car counting your jeffersons.
