I currently have my eyes on aquiring a 13x5.5 Brass Sensitone and or a 14x6.5 Aluminum, let's see which one I can get my hands on first.

I used to have one of those 13"x5" Steel shell snares. Boy was it a good little drum. It was actually the first drum that I ever got.

I really like the Vision snare. I wish they would have made a drum like that for the first generation Visions.

nice snares and beautiful pics. How is the vision snare? I've noticed that snares that come with kits tend not to be very good.
I'm using my Christmas avatar until they are the correct size.

Both drums are definately lots of fun! I picked up the 13x5 off Ebay the other day for $51 bucks, it's in excellent condition but I did change the top and bottom heads along with the wires. Figured why not.

The vision snare is pretty good for a matching snare. The workmanship is good but the drum does lack some of the features that some of the higher end snares have (Brass swivel nuts and plastic washers for the tension rod are some of the things). I never owned a birch snare before let alone a snare that was only 5" in depth so it really had to grow on me. In the mean time, I added the 5.5in Sensitone and I am hoping to land a 6.5in in the next couple of days. (Fingers crossed that the wife allows it...)

that's good that it actually holds its own.

Sensitones are great snares. I am partial to 6.5in snares I hope your wife is in a good mood haha.

Those 13" steel shell snares are awesome. Really cheap used and new, sound GREAT when tuned up, and they are huge fun to play.

They're supposed to be from pearls educational kits, but they sound as good as some snares 5 times the price
