New Pearl Limited Edition Snare!

Here is my new snare! It's a Pearl Limited Edition 14x5. It is four ply with reinforcement rings, 2 inner plies maple, 2 outer plies mahogany with a burl mahogany finish. I bought this guy last week after an extended search for a new snare! Now of course for the pictures...

I actually don't mind the badge. It sounds really good! The sound is comparable to an MCX snare I tried, but this snare is warmer sounding due to the thin shell. It also sounds more open than other snares I tried because it has Superhoops rather than diecast. Perhaps it's just my imagination but I feel that the outer plies of mahogany give it a touch more warmth than a pure maple snare.

Looks Georgous, im very interested in pearls ltd edition mahogony kit (plus snare) that looks very similar to this but has 4 mahogony ply plus 4 ply maple re-rings (I think) is this something different? it looks almost identical, cheers Adam.

This is the matching snare for that kit. You are correct that the kit is mahogany with maple reinforcement rings. The snare is 2 outer plies of mahogany with 2 inner plies of maple plus the maple reinforcement rings. It is very beautiful and I'm sure you would be pleased to have one along with the whole kit! Let me know if you get the kit, I would be interested to know how the rest of it sounds!
