  • The best snare drum you have ever played

    So yeah what is it?

mine would have to be my 14x8 10 ply keller maple snare I "built". and by built I mean drilled and assembled. Nothing comes close to this bad boy.
I have a vid of some audio of my snare with decent sound quality if anyone is interested.

*Stolen from the cymbal forum* I hope this hasn't been done.

Nothing makes me happier than hitting this particular drum. It is perfect. Oh, and the second one ain't too shabby either.

I can't say I've had the luxury to try too many nice, high end snares. But to be honest, my current Ultracast is the best I've played. That or my friends Epiarch snare.

                      For Sale:
                      -(2x) DW 9700 stands
                      -DW 9000 snare stand
-Pork Pie round throne (black swirl top/silver sparkle base)
-14"x8" Dark Horse custom snare (champagne glitter, full length tube lugs)
                      -16" K Dark Crash
                      -(cracked) 24" K Light Ride
                      -(cracked) 16" Paiste Prototype Crash

I am still yet to play an ultracast. I really want to.

I honestly think it is great that everyone's favorite drum is in their current arsenal. Biased or not, I think it is cool...

Either my Noble & Cooley, or a Yamaha Copper snare I played on at a studio around here. I haven't tried a lot of high end snares though.

Second pic is of user SoCalMike's snare. (The one I tried was 14"x5,5" tho)

I love all my Supras and Acros and other Ludwigs.
But my 7x14 Birch Custom Absolute is just soooooo good.
Hearing it at rehearsal in a big, long, relatively narrow room tonite made me smile.
