  • Help with a 14x3.5 maple free floater

I currently use an Evans dry head, venting rings on my free floater. I'm not willing to spend the money for a new snare. I'm looking to get a fatter, fuller, deeper sound by changing heads and tuning alone.

I know this is a bit crazy. Why not buy a deeper snare? Well, I want to get the most of out this drum first.

I play in a light rock/pop band. No loud crazy guitars to cut through.
Can anyone provide suggestions? Your head choice on this drum.

Sound like I need a 2 ply head. Also, would adding a 42 strand snare help? The drum has the original snares.
