  • Kit Refinishing?

Has anybody here ever re-finished they're entire kit themselves? I mean like a new stain or a hand painted design, not a wrap. I think I am going to do it, my drums are starting to look pretty worn. I don't really have the money for a new kit right now either. So has anybody done it yet? I have done tons of snares but never a full kit. Help me out...

I've thought about it. Our manager is also a guitar manufacturer (ex Metallica guitar tech, no less!) and he offered to put a sunburst finish on my export. It means sacrificing my kit for a couple months though.

Really? I am going to try to get mine done in about 2-3 days. That is working non-stop though. To save time, all the paint I am getting is very fast to dry so I won't have to wait about 24 hours between putting another coat on. I am going to do a blue to black painted fade.

Wouldnt advise you to rush it. I see Mark (our manager) putting finishes on guitars (check out The Edge's guitar in U2's 'elevation' video, designed and hand made by the man himself) and it takes weeks. Especially with a fade finish, it can take up to 11 or 12 coats. Take care.
