  • Carl - Pearl M1946 50th Anniversary Snare

Carl sorry for putting this in the MW forum, but I know this is where you hang out.

Can you give me info on that snare drum? When they were made, value etc. I am looking at buying Shell Nummer:1363.

    Thanks Mate, The Vin.

ps, is a MW better value now?

      Hey Vinny,

The Pearl 50th anniversary snare was made about 1996. It is a solid steam-bent maple shelled drum with brass tube lugs, separate hoop clips and engraved hoops. It is 6 1/2 x14" and is finished in an ebony stain. It originally comes with a renaissance (or was it fibreskyn) head, signed by the president of Pearl Drums. AJ's Pro Percussion had one on eBay for years and I don't think it ever sold because of it's rediculous reserve price.

Wow... a 16-year bump... what did you do to that drum? Did the original hardware pit up?

I sold the kit about 10 years ago. It was still in mint condition. Regret selling it.

Some people get uptight about this. I love it. It brings back memories of old members who faded away.

It also reminds us that the Pearl Forum was the go-to place to discuss drums before many of the other social media platforms were developed. Most drum companies never even caught on back then.

I agree. It is really cool in a nostalgic way.

There was a time when you would start a thread and not many were enthusiastic about the subject it was on the bottom of the second page by the end of the day.
