Try Moon Gel, that always solves probelms for me with excess ring. Also, what are each of the snares made of? Wood, Steel?, if wood, how many plies?. When did you last change the snares on them?, how tight are the snare wires?

        steel....

they're both steel snares... and the snare wires are pretty tight on both of them... i'd really not like to spend money (yeah yeah moon gel runs like 5 bucks a "can") but i don't want my snare drum to look like crap... the duct tape does work, my friend told me about that... can i put the tape on the inside of the snare batter, or put something else on? thanks guys...

Crank the batter head down as much as realistically possible. And try one piece of Moon Gel. It should help alot.

              RE: Ringing Snare

Get muffling rings by Evans or Remo. The ones I have are Evans and are clear. The Remo's are white. Rich.
