I've had my new kit for a couple months now, And i just found this forum. Pretty cool info here. And love the sessions.
Question, do you people mount your toms on the rack, or keep them mounted on the bd? reasons??
And...... how the hell does the spikes come out of the basedrum legs for carpet??
    thanks

You should be able to loosen the wingnut above the foot and pull the foot. It's spring loaded so the spike should drop out the the foot should fall back into place, then tighten the wingnut back up. I play mine mounted on the BD. No need for a rack for me
I play, therefore I am a Percussionist

I would say if you have the rack, mount yourtoms on the rack and use the holder on the bass drum for cymbal holders or something auxillary, or just leave them empty. As far as the spikes on the b.d. spurs, they're supposed to be one quarter turn to convert from rubber to metal, at least on the SP-30, not sure about the SP-20.

            Rack 'em up!

I've always had mine racked, partly cause I have them offset a bit to the left of where the 2 front toms would be on the bass (6pc kit), I mount my percussion items to the rack, and I use mic boom arms attached to the rack. Not about to go back to stands for this kit. I removed the BB3 (bass dual tom bracket) and covered it with a piece of flat plastic (see all the BB3 removal threads ;>).

My Jazz kit I have one tom on the bass drum and I use the other hole for a cymbal.

My 10 piece I special ordered the bass drums without mounts and mount all the toms on stands.

Both my sets are sessions too and I love them.

I ordered the holder on my bass drums because I´m
going to use them as cymbal holders!

Then I have a T980W Tom Stand in the middle to
                  hold my 2 toms ...
