    That blue is gorgeous Kevin!

We know that kit will look better then “showroom new” when you’re finished with her.

These look mint! As with every other project you do.

How do you go about color matching when you do these restorations? I’m sure you didn’t paint the whole kit…?

I take a BD Hoop over to my local paint supplier to get an exact match

Coming on nicely & I think the white BD Resonant looks classy

White drumhead on the front of a kick drum always looks better than black…

I think it’s ingrained in my head that less expensive drums always had a black front head and more expensive kits had white as I was getting into drums in the 90’s.

I guess in most cases as it brightens up a set

Yep, I love white Resonants on darker coloured kits. Really freshens them up I think

All completed & I absolutely love how it has come out. A lot of hard work but, these kits are worth the extra effort Looks superb with the period FF Snare.

The Pacific Blue looks great! Splendid job.
About 25 years ago I played the engagement party of the lead singer of one of the most popular bands in our area of Florida. His band sat in on a break and their drummer could not believe my steel free floating snare. He said it was so sensitive it played like Formica. I appreciated the compliment and figured he was just being nice. Fast forward 20 years so it was 5 years ago I was in Florida visiting family and the trip coincided with that band's 30th anniversary show. Since I happened to be passing through I was invited to come by and sit in. I sat in on Jay's kit and I couldn't believe it, he had a free floating snare.

I just went through that with a mid-level Mapex kit I picked up to use as a beater kit at blues jams and outdoor gigs. Problem is now I like them too much. An FB Marketplace sale it came with a black EQ3 BD reso. EQ3 is my preference but it made the sapphire fade kit looked dismal. I couldn't find a Mapex logo head that wasn't putrid or in decent condition until I found this white logo head on Ebay that I actually like. Aesthetically I think it really wakes up the look of these drums.

White heads look much classier on a darker kit
