  • Pearl Session Studio Select

Hello though new to the forum, I wanted to showcase my Pearl kit that arrived a few weeks ago.
I have die cast hoops on the way, back ordered till September, for all shells except snare and of
    course bass.
Also, a hazy reso logo head to pay homage to 90s session and masters kits.
I will have more pics (hopefully better quality) when I get the hoops.

Pearl Session Select here are the specs:
    Shells
    22” kick
    14” snare matching 6.5” depth
    8” tom
    10” tom
    12” tom
    13” tom
    14” ft
    16” ft

    Hardware
Pearl 1030 tom arms gyro lock x 4
Pearl 1030 boom stands gyro lock x 3
Pearl 2030 boom stand gyro lock x 1
Pearl Ch 70 boom stand attachment w/clamp
    Pearl 1050 hi hat stand
Pearl P3002 direct drive double pedal
    Pearl Adp 20 adapters x 4
    Pearl Adp 30 adapter x 1
Pdp 800 boom x 2 (one is used as arm for splash)

    Cymbals
I have numerous Sabian cymbals, not all pictured, and those are interchanged so I won’t mention those.

    Thanks for checking it out.

    Nice kit, Res!

The Black Halo is a special finish. Pearl only offered it for two years. I picked up a few pieces to put my satin hardware (also discontinued back in 2007) on. Just a little four piece. One up, one down with matching snare.

The Session Studio Select is such a great line of drums. I truly believe it's one of the best values on the market today. And I'm not just saying that because I built my shell bank from the series...

Thank you. I really love the finish, for this series I was going to get nicotine white but found out somewhere on YouTube the black halo was lacquered, so I chose this one.
        Was worth the wait.

Yessr - it’s a shame the finish is disco’d for retail floors.
I agree session studio select have it going on.
Before I started researching, I was locked in on a masters in red vermillion twice, but never could pull for some reason of my own discord. I love the birch pre eqd and am very happy with my purchase.

Your kit with the satin hardware look sharp, it is one of kind also with the lugs. Did they fit with ease?
I need to get mine outside as well for a quick photo op.
The shell bank you have what heads are you using, did you upgrade hoops on this one as well?

            Thanks!

Yeah, the lug's hole-spacing is the same through out all of Pearl's major lines. The exceptions are the Decades and lower lines. The older exports even had the same hole spacing. I put the discontinued satin Masters lugs on this Session Studio Select kit after I sold my Session Studio Classic kit in piano black.

I did "upgrade" all of the hoops and tension rods on my Session Studio Select shell bank. They are all outfitted with Fat Tone hoops and stainless steel tension rods. The 8" and 10" toms have the newer aluminum Optimounts but the 12" is always mounted via snare stand. I've found I usually use the 10" or the 12" or the 8" and the 10" together, but never all three at the same time.

I'm currently using clear emperors on the top so you can see that beautiful mahogany on the inside. I always use clear ambassadors on the bottoms.

And yes, get your drums outside for a photo op! Outside pics are just as much work as setting up for a gig, but the pics are always worth it!

I could gaze at this finish all day!
Updating a couple of pics now that I have most of my kit complete.
I am still waiting for my 8” and 10” master cast hoops.

So this is how I’ve set them up:
              Heads
cs dots to all tom batters, ambassadors on reso
PS3 with dot on bass with clear Pearl logo reso
Snare reverse dot batter and ambassador reso

              Rims
              Master cast on top
              Super hoops on reso

No doubt Res! Great looking kit and finish! If I was in the market for a new kit, the Sessions would be at the top of my list!

Thanks TM, I am very happy with these.
They sound very unique, my 14” has the resonance of maple it’s crazy.

                      Hi NO DRUMS!
I am enjoying moving around the 12”, 14”, 16”, 22” setup with one snare at the moment.
Sometimes I will, it just depends on the voices needed.

I just want to get vaccinated already so I can get back out and play with a band again. The last gig I played was 10 months ago. I've forgotten if I played a total of 3 or 4 gigs on the kit.

Now that has me tickled pink. What a great looking kit and my favorite arrangement too!

That is a beautiful kit you have there Ron. That looks like a set up I'd be familiar with and can get behind!
I love the initial shielded logo you have.
I am going to have to get one with my initials on my new to me Eagle Badge Rogers Holiday kit in Mardi Gras that I just acquired.

I don't believe I have mentioned here, but that is the main reason I went with the #316 Black Halo Glitter.
Within Pearl, I wanted as close to MG finish as I could get.

Thank you Feenix, I really love the stepped increments in the toms.
I have yet to try the 13" 16" set up, I just love my 14" floors sound!
The master cast hoops especially in the larger shells, have really locked in the lows without giving up head tension.

This set up also gives me a nostalgic feel with the look and all.
