After watching way too many You Tube video tutorials, I attempted to save myself some money and convert my 14X12 and 16X14 toms to floors! They came out GREAT, especially since I don't have the correct tools to do this stuff properly LOL. They were just WAAAY too heavy to hang off a stand (at least IMHO). Since I plan on recovering my 4 pc. Tama kit anyway, I cannibalized my Tama 16" floor tom for the legs and brackets for the 16" Session tom and then took the legs and brackets off of the 18" Session floor for the 14". Then I proceeded to put the Tama kick drum spurs on the 18" Session floor to make a permanent kick for a bop kit to be used with the smaller toms and the 14X12 as the floor! Now I have two sets out of this monster to work with. I just have to see how crazy I get with the 18" kick. I'm still debating whether to go with wood hoops, metal hoops or keep the steel rims. I'm leaning towards black powder coated metal kick hoops from DFD as they are cost effective and better looking than just leaving the steel rims on. Then I have to decide on a riser. That will be contingent on which way I go with the hoops/rims. If I go with hoops, I'll cannibalize the Tama kick again for the T-rods and claws. Pics to follow...

This is the way I FINALLY decided on setting the kit up to play. It's the most comfortable and ergonomic solution for me. 8" off the cymbal stand, 10, 12 mounted on kick and 14, 16 on the floor (where they BELONG IMHO). The two 13" timbales are on my left and tuned to the same notes as the 8 and 10 toms. My whole kit is tuned to a G Major scale and sounds so melodically awesome! I'm super thrilled with how they sound.

The floors came out better than I thought (although I WILL have to get longer legs for the 14" as it's shorter depth needs the extra height and they are currently maxed). Both of them sound AWESOME on the floor and sustain better for me this way.

The 18" floor came out great as well converted to a kick. I just plugged the holes on top with some carriage bolts and lock nuts and same on the bottom. Still not sure if I will go whole hog with a tom mount or not (probably not) but I definitely plan on adding the powder coated black metal hoops from DFD with regular kick drum heads. Probably leave the reso unported and get a Gibraltar lifter for the full meaty effect and use this kick with the 8, 10 and 14 floor (or just 10, 14) for a nice little bop kit for smaller venues or rehearsals etc.

The Tama legs don't look bad at all on the kick and they are nice and light but still sturdy for sure! I didn't want to go the other route using the conversion kits that are out there. Figured I would just go for it and make it permanent! Really happy with all the results and now I can make full use of ALL the drums in one way or the other.

Thanks Eric. I just ordered the black metal kick hoops, Gibraltar riser and coated Powerstroke 3 kick head with a black 2 ply DFD reso head for the 18" so hopefully I can get away without any internal muffling. I also ordered a coated 22"PS3 for the 22" while I was at it since I really like the sound of those heads. Can't wait! Should have it all by Tues or Wed. I'll update the pics when I slap it all together!
