  • New Session Studio Classics in Antique Ivory

Received this shell pack today: 10X7 and 12X8 rack toms, 16X14 floor tom, 22X16 bass, and free 14X14 floor tom in Antique Ivory. Love the finish! But...There is some pink discoloring around all the leg brackets on the 16" floor tom. Hope to get it replaced. Tom batter heads will soon be replaced with Evans Clear G2s. Bass batter will most likely be replaced with Evans Clear EQ3 batter.

Brand new? The pink is hard to pick up in the pictures, but if it's there I would want it fixed or replaced!

The pink thing is weird. Otherwise great drums in a really classy finish.

If it's just around the floor tom legs it may have been from where it was drilled. Did you try to clean it. Slightly damp cloth. I would take one of the legs and leg brackets off and see what's up.

Haven't had time yet. I plan to remove the leg brackets tomorrow to take a closer look.

I wiped it down with a damp cloth and it didn't help.

my guess is ,the drum was assembled to quickly, not allowing the lacquer or paint , to cure ...so when they attached the floor tom gaskets , the color leached out of them and into the lacquer ...why no lug marks ? maybe they put the leg mounts on first , then went to lunch ? maybe the ft gaskets are a different plastic then the lug gaskets ? anyones guess i suppose

Thanks for your reply and your concern. But, to be blunt, I don't much care about the "why". I just want a drum that isn't defective. Other than that one issue...I love the look of the kit. Not being able to see the finish in person, I was concerned that it wouldn't be "white" enough (My preference is Arctic White.). It IS a bit "off-white", but I think it looks great. I'm completely satisfied with the look of the Antique Ivory finish.

Good news...The drum will be replaced.
Bad news...It is currently out of stock and, I'm told, won't be available until August.
Good news...Pearl and Cascio Interstate Music (ordered from them) are letting me keep the drum until the replacement is sent. I can live with that.
                            * I hope to post pics when I get it set up.

There is effectively no bad news in there.
