Black SSC kit with upgrades

Hey everyone, I just bought my first SSC kit to replace my 2003 MRX kit I've been using at our church. I just had too many extras lying around so a buddy bought it from me

I got it from Forks Drum Closet in Nashville and my friend Russ Whitman that drums for Craig Morgan had recently sold it to them. It's a 2014 and he upgraded the hoops to die cast and aluminum optimounts. I added the bottom black resos and have ordered solid black hoops as I'm not a fan of that natural inner finish.

It's a great solid kit for the $$!

Looks nice! Good call on upgrading the bass drum hoops! I did the same thing to my SSC kit and the results are like night & day!

YES!! That's the classic look. So much better. Can't wait for mine to get here now

Was the solid hoop a special order through Pearl?

Awesome looking kit! SSC drums are nice! So good looking and sound great too, and an affordable price! I also swapped out the optimounts for aluminum!

No. I just ordered a pair of Reference series hoops in #103 Piano Black. I don't know why Pearl doesn't offer fully-finished bass drum hoops on all of their kits from the wood/fiberglass series and up. The last few generations of Session series kits had fully lacquered bass drum hoops. It can't be THAT much of a cost saving measure. C'mon, Pearl! You can do better than that!

I sprang for the Reference hoops because I knew they’d be an EXACT match. This is my one and only kit, So, for me…it’s worth spending the extra money.

makes sense and I don't blame you. This one will be set up at our church and the kick is currently obstructed anyway. But for the glimpses I will have of it, it's GOT to be at least solid black

I hear ya! I’m not a fan of the two-tone hoops! They cheapen the look of an otherwise high-quality kit!
