Yesterday, rather than go through a bunch of trial and error adjustments, I decided to play 4pc with the 12 inch tom up top and also removed the second crash for a super basic set up. Still, one of the drummers commented on the cramped area the riser alllows. Speaking of cymbals They bought a pre-pack of ZBT's so I don't even have to schlep in cymbals anymore. I carry back ups of all but drums but the only thing I actually carry in is a stick bag or two. Great gig!

I can't get this picture to load for some reason. Glad to hear they TRIED to fix the pit, Ron. Watched the video above & that snare really does crack. Sounded good even on crappy cell phone speakers.

Now there's video. It's also posted in the snare section. Hope I'm not breaking any rules doing that. The Sensitone Maple Premium snare just kills. My pedestrian over playing might even be caused by it! It just makes me want to hear that crack as much as possible.

Further adventures in the drum pit...

The last drummer (from the night before) set up 1 up 2 down. I tried to picture it in my mind and couldn't deal with the idea of the 12 to my right. So, I took down the 10" tom and moved the 12 up over the kick and played them 4 piece. Big fun!

Kings got a new reso for the kick as promised, Aquarian Regulator. I was hoping for an EQ3 but this will work.

    I can't either.

I've learned to work with the glitches in this app since it hasn't been updated... Ever? If you click the area circled in the pic, it will take you to the "internet" version of the page. That will allow you to pan and zoom.

Lol, if you only have one pic per page, it will always give you the "connection error" black screen. If there's more than one pic you can slide over and back and be able to see it. Now that I've loaded another pic you should be able to click on it and swipe back and forth to get it to load. Haha.

First time I saw it I knew it would be trash in a month. I spoke to one of the managers and requested they get an EQ3.
I can't get the pic to load Ron, but can see it's a mess. Why would he not just remove the head for the evening? Armatures! the managers should have requested the sound man pay for the replacement head.

We'll sort of be in the same neighborhood tomorrow.

Any idea if you'll be heading to Nolensville Rd for lunch Wednesday? Looking good for me but that can change in an instant.

You know how it is. Play a brand new kit and you think you need new drums. I should heed what IMF1 pointed out about the SPX being classic and approaching vintage age. He was also right about the finish, it really is a stand out.
I bet if I pop some new heads on the SPX kit I'll forget all about replacing it. I've never heard them with G2 batters and I'd also like to try out the G7 Resonant. I've read they add fat to the over-all tone.
I've mostly been playing 4 piece lately so just replacing the 12 & 16 inch heads won't be near as costly as replacing the heads on all 6 tom toms.
But, thanks for the heads up on Greenbrier.

SK 2 just kills the tone and volume of the kick Evans has way more low end punch and tone and VOLUME!
I get to play the SSCs again tomorrow. I'd like to get there early enough to swap the Optimounts around so the air vents aren't facing out.

You're right about the Emad vs Superkick. Fatter and louder! I A/B'd them about 5 years ago on my MLX and EXR kits and came to the same conclusion on both. I'd have no problem playing out with a Superkick so long as the bass drum is mic-ed.
