SSCs are awesome sounding and great looking kits. I've gigged mine a few times since purchasing it 1 month 1/2 ago.

The SSC's are some fine drums. I had a 5 piece in platinum mist and they sounded fantastic. Pearl really nailed that birch/kapur recipie. I'd say go for it.

Here is a link to some video shot Sunday with a DSLR. There are a couple of places that almost give an idea of the character in that Sensitone maple snare.
Not our best performance of Murdered by Love but hey, they can't all be gems.

New SSC House Kit at Kings Bowl in Franklin, TN

I posted about the SSC I played yesterday elsewhere but I was originally going to post it here.

Got to my gig yesterday with drums in tow only to find a brand new 5 piece Session Studio Classic kit set up as the house kit. The matching snare was not SSC but a Sensitone Premium Maple that sounded impossible!
The kit was played the night before but that was the only time. The tuning on them was terrible.

I loosened all the heads and tuned from scratch. The toms and snare tuned up beautifully. Even one of our guitar players commented how great the kit sounded. I mean, he really took notice.
The heads on the kick left a lot to be desired for my taste.

It was a jam so I got to hear the drums out front too. The Sensitone Premium Maple snare was awesome! Every 2 & 4 was like ear candy.
The kick and toms looked like they had the same satin finish as the snare. Beautiful drums!

The only negative for me is I don't like virgin kicks. Mounting the rack toms off of cymbal stands limited cymbal placement once the toms were set. And, it's going to be the same pain in the butt each time I play there. And, just wait until somebody goofs up the stands which is inevitable.

I can't say enough great things about Session Studio Classic!
Seriously, just like that I'm considering selling my SLX Prestige Sessions in favor of a SSC904XUP/C adding a 16" floor tom. I love my kit but that's how much I liked the Session Studio Classic I played yesterday.
