I would like a little education on The Sessions Maple gear pre-2005 if possible. I am in the process of adding a 16x14 mounted tom to my '05 SMX(cran fade) and the current owner says it's an '03 drum. I have only seen pics of the drum but the color looks spot on. The badge is a gold square that says "Sessions Custom." There is no Opti which is no biggie. $125.00 shipped to my door. Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi,
I ran through this with someone else a couple of months ago, and based on that post
I believe that the square gold badge saying session custom is from the SRX series which was from 2001 to 2004 so what your seller is saying fits with that.
The SMX badge is more ornate and that is what should be on your kit.
I am unsure if there is a change in shell composition between the 2 series.
Hopefully not!
The colour is right, the price seems ok, good luck!

Late 1990s to early 2000s Session Series: Prestige Session Select (SRX), Prestige Session (DLX), Session (DX). Rectangular badges, 7.5mm mixed-wood shells. Badges of SRXs read "Prestige Session Select". Badges of DLXs and DXs read "Session Series".
Early 2000s Session Series: Session Custom (SRX). 7.5mm all maple shells. Rectangular badges reading "Session Custom". Although the shell composition changed, the SRX letter designation was retained.
Mid 2000s Session Series: Same shells and badges as the all maple Session Custom SRXs, but the letter designation was changed to SMX.
Mid to late Session Series: SMX letter designation. Same maple shells, different ("fancier") badges. Birch Session Studios (SBX) added to Session Series.
At some point (not sure when), I.S.S. Mounts were replaced by Optimounts. Prestige Session Selects had I.S.S. Mounts. Not sure about the 1st generation all maple Sessions. Lug designs changed at some point(s), as well.
Not sure about the precise years of production, so I generalized by saying "early", "mid", "late", etc.Looking to sell 22X18 Diamond Burst Masters Studio (BRX) bass drum. PM if interested.
