I agree with skeld-the-wicked. Pearl has you where they want you with discontinuing the Session series.........You're now thinking about the master line......$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Pearl was loosing too much money.

You can still order SBX component drums from most Pearl dealers. If Pearl doesn't have any left in their warehouses, it will be a 6 month wait. However, going this route (buying the drums induvidually), will be a tad more expensive.

There was a thread a while back where a PDF member had ordered a "new" virgin SRX kick drum, and those were discontinued quite a long time ago.

Double check with AL Percival, but I'm pretty sure Session series component drums will be available for a while.

I dont want to sound like a vision basher but i had two sessions a sbx and a smx and I thought they sounded as good as a masters, until I bought my bsx there is a big difference to me and thats all that matters.Again visions are a good bargain and sound really good but no way do they match or exceed sessions or the masters line. I bought my BSX bronze glass at GC new in the box 5pc for $1,200.00.Enjoy what you have and have fun!

Personally, I think unfinished bd hoops make a kit look cheap, no matter how nice the lacquer is. That's one of the reasons I hate wrap finishes. Also, it sucks that my only choice if I want black hardware is the concord fade (except for the VX, which I don't want). Really, though, concord fade isn't bad. I kind of like it, but the unfinished hoops are almost the sole reason keeping me from buying one.

Yes, your hoops are completely clear-coated, but the inside of the hoop is bare wood. (no color)

That's what they mean by "unfinished"

The MCX series drums for 08' no longer have the fully finished hoops either.

IMO, one of Pearl's biggest mistakes was discontinuing sessions. Right before they did, the line was just starting to "take off" and grow in popularity. I owned the marine blue fade (and had black hardware put on with black stands, it was freaking amazing), a 8pc double bass vintage fade, as well as the green burst in a double bass set up. I was so pleased with each session (maple) kit that I owned. I just cannot believe they quit making them. I would to this day have bought another green burst kit in a heart beat if they still made em.They sounded like masters kits, and the 2.3mm super hoops rocked! Affordable (more so then masters maple or birch) and great looking, you just couldnt have went wrong with a session kit. Again, I loved sessions! I dont like the visions nearly as much. The visions dont have opti mounts as sessions did, and they dont have nearly the choices in finishes as sessions did. Anyway, all this ranting and raving wont get them to start making em again. So, you get the point. Sessions kits were just top knotch IMO. I miss them oh so much!

yeah sessions were amazing i completly agree with roman, they cut them off right as they were really taking off. I mean me, I have my sbx with that nice punchy bass and those cutting toms, Im never going to buy a new drumset even if I went pro (unless i got an endorsment, which isnt quite playing) they are amazing drums, and I am pleased. Id love to buy some more drums maybe one or two more bass drums another floor tom, sigh but no money and wait time.
well as for the virgin bass drums on sessions, if you go to the sessions page on massmusic there is even a shellpack that includes a bassdrum no mount(its fusion sizes i think) besides the fact they could be cutsom ordered at no extra cost nonetheless, just wait.
I LOVE MY SESSIONS thats al there really is to it. they were, and still are(maybe even more so now with the discount prices) the best drums for the price ever. PERIOD

EDIT: i still reccommend them to fellow drumers even though they are discontinued, because they ARE that good
                        My Sessions-7 piece sbx

hey I'm looking to BUY some drums pearl sessions SBX preferably in storm cloud, but any other finish will work (if the sizes are right). if you have any info on where I could get some drums for PM me

That's what gets me too man. The only way to get a virgin bass drum now is to spend double what you would on a VBX and move up to a MCX. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it just sucks because if you're on a budget you get stuck with that damn masking plate. I suppose the only way to really get around the situation is to order a VX or VSX and remove the wrap, fill the holes, and rewrap with something from Jammin Sam or Rockenwraps....but by the time to do all the work and pay for shipping the wrap (more for me because I'm in Canada eh), plus upgrade to 2.3mm hoops , you should've just gone with the MCX in the first place.

But yeah, back to Sessions. I think they should've kept them around. I know it's been debated lots on here about price points and such, but, if the VMX and VBX were considered to be the replacements for Sessions, Pearl should've added the opti's and 2.3mm hoops. I know I wouldn't have minded paying the extra because that's the first upgrade Id do anyway.

                            Session Being Discontinued

The way I look at it, owning a 7 piece Vintage Fade is owning a piece of history. For the ones who don't have one, I can see how they would feel different.
