  • How about an even smaller configuration

Small portable kits are becoming more and more popular.

How about a super small jazz configuration with:
16" bass, snare, single mounted tom, and hardware.
Eliminate the second tom and the cymbals, and sell this 3 piece for a street price closer to $300.

Well, it turns out there Is a smaller configuration, price wise.
I only see one dealer selling this configuration, but, I was able to purchase the kit and hardware, without cymbals, for $329.

This kit is an amazing value. I know it is marketed at new players, but, I'm an experienced player, and this kit is a great value for me.
It may not be for bashers or people who mistreat their equipment, but the 4 piece configuration turns out to be the perfect gig kit for the jazz or otherwise light playing drummer.

The hardware is light - but I Like that. I don't need my hardware to survive megaton bashes, and my back always appreciates light hardware.

This is probably the best drum kit value on the market today.

you're better off to convert a better quality 16x16 floor tom, add your own hardware, and you'll have something far better than what's selling as these mini kits these days..they almost all have some weak link......just my opinion.

i have about 4-5 various floor toms...they've all served as kick drums at one point or another... here's one that i was playing at a disney gig w a 12x9 tom and a pork pie big black brass snare 6.5x14.

Not sure why you'd say that. Have you played the kit? I have had my hands on many kits in my 40 years of playing.
These kits are fine. Again, not for the basher, but for the jazz or controlled volume player, these kits are a steal.

            A future configuration worth considering:

The existing Jazz configuration, but with a 12" mounted tom instead of the 10.
