  • Received first shipments of the "Omar Hakim" purple craze kit

    I guess I had posted this info in the wrong area before... 00** (thanks for the heads up Nuhopoclik).
    Anyway, I've received the first 3 of 4 shipments of my kit.

    Here are some details;
    Purple craze...
    10,12 & 13 rack toms
    14 & 16 floor toms
    5x14 snare
    22x18 kick (on it's way)

    Yes, my freinds, this is the same kit that we've all been watching Omar shred on in the videos on this web site. Both he and Will Kennedy signed the insides of the shells. (On the 14" Will signed "Will Kennedy was here - and it was much fun!") Too cool!
    I've had the chance to play them live twice now & have been playing with different head combinations. So far Evans G2's are the favorite but I'm far from done testing... I almost think I'll end up mixing heads a bit... the 13 is fantastic with a clear g2 and I'm dying over the 16 with a g2 coated or emperor coated.
    Pics anyone???
    Here are a few & I'll add as time goes on.
    Have patience young grasshoppers... it's worth the wait!
    Have a great night and Blessings to y'all!
    Gary

    Looks really, really, really, nice. Why do you have Omar's kit again?

    Does he prefer blast beats or shuffles?

            The purple is much less intense than I had remembered... not too much for any venue and it has enough bling to dress up a stage well... especially when a good spot light is shinning on it.
            Pearl did a great job on this one.
            The granite sparkle was also a knockout... shoot... they didn't make a bad finish on this series!

              Yes... very lucky.
              Very Blessed again!
              The craftsmanship on this kit is unbelievable guys... Flawless bearing edges, tight hardware with great luster... a wonderful bouquet with a refined finish. I wonder if it will age like a good wine too?!

                  The word is that they have "Top Men" working on it...
                  What men you ask... "TOP MEN" (please excuse the Raiders of the lost Ark reference [I]but I kinda' feel like the moment fits.
                  I'm VERY bothered by this but trying to keep a good attitude ya know.
                  Chin up mate!
                  Any suggestions on who to contact for resolution? Besides God? (I've already got a call in to Him.)

                    Ah, one last thought for the evening;
                    I haven't really mentioned the snare...
                    It is QUICKLY becoming my favorite. (Or at least one of the top two or three out of a pretty good collection of snares.)
                    VERY sensitive but with the crack of a wrist it can rip my face off! Everything from thin and ringing to a fat crack. VERY GOOD JOB PEARL ENGINEERS!!
                    THANK YOU!!!

                        This really sucks! Not for you, but for me! I have to look at these pictures and it just makes me want my drums more and more. Ok, I have to leave here and stop thinking about my Ref. series that wont show up for 2 more months.

                          Have you been in Davenport long? & who did you order your kit through?
                          I grew up there...
                          Which kit did you order? It will be worth the wait... they are amazing!
