Additionally, I wanted everything made all at once to keep the quality, color, and consistency the same for the entire kit.
I think it comes down to the facility and everything. The Masterworks are completely handmade to order in their own facility, but the Reference series are still mass produced drums. For special orders, they have to halt production on the standard drums and then make way for your kit, which is also probably why you've already received your 6" tom. All that said, 12 pieces are a lot to construct, paint, assemble, shipped overseas, etc. I waited almost 9 months for my Starclassic Maple. I know your timeline is about the same at this point and I'm sorry you're still waiting. For what it's worth, the wait will be made completely worthwhile once you get the chance to unbox them!

Big dolla buyer in quantity, sure. But the MW is special, prestigious big dolla and Refs are just fancy production drums. I mean, it's like the difference between spending $3MM on 25 Benzes or 1 Koenigsegg (or Bugatti, if you want more mainstream); only one of those is going to drop boxer briefs.

If Pearl could I would assume they would, much of this is out of their control and are at the mercy of shippers how things are in the world these days. The world is in short supply of things and people to move them along, you've waited this long so a little bit more isn't too much of an ask, given the world circumstances these last few years.

Even though the wait has been more than originally expected, you are getting a great set of drums. I have been very pleased with the quality and sound of my Reference kit. Try not to let this delay cast a dark shadow on the excitement of receiving and playing your dream kit.

Yeah I agree with this too Kyle. Is it a PITA to have to wait much longer than you were anticipating? For sure, but there's nothing that you can do at this point.

You are absolutely correct! It's only because I have waited so long for the opportunity to purchase this kit. I know I'm in the home stretch right now. I am simply excited , no longer disappointed. I know I'm less than 60 days out. This will be a wonderful day. I look forward to sharing this with everyone in the forum.

We look forward to seeing it too.

My recent Masterworks orders have still been coming within 5 months, but they are quite a bit smaller (sometimes only snare drums). Maybe the size of your kit has something to do with the long delay.

I got quoted at 9 mos for a single 8" tom that I ordered shortly after the holiday and my kit (4 piece) took 9 mos also. I'd say your time lines are definitely outside the norm for the time being.

Global supply chains are absolutely ****ed right now. I know it sucks waiting, but unfortunately thats just how the world is at the moment.

I've got the same situation. Ordered my 16x14 in July 2021 and was advised 6 months. I believe it is held up on a boat waiting to dock. Hopefully soon!

And that is 1 FULL YEAR and Counting! April 1, 2021 through March 31 2022. I cannot believe it is going to take more than a year to receive this kit. I know about global supply chain issues. But this has been a really long time. Who here has waited more than a year for their kit? Just curious.

I do know that my kit is in transit and left the factory a couple weeks ago. End of April into Early May seems like the appropriate time to receive it. After this long, it feels like another year from now. lol.

The longest I waited was 17 weeks for my first GMS kit back in ‘93. That was due to having black hardware, before it was offered like it is today.

OMG! Why did you have to put that out there in the universe?! That thought never crossed my mind. Oh boy, as if I'm not stressed enough about receiving this kit some point in 2022.
