    I understood that it wasn't an abalone drum shell. I disagree with it not being a wrap. It may not be a Delmar wrap, but its definitely an abalone shell laminate that's applied to the wooden shell, hence a wrap. That very color is available on line. It does look nice.

      More info here on the kit and the pieces of abolone patchworked to the shells.

      I'm more interested in the tiny (6" tom?) above the two racks up front. Isn't that new? Wonder why?

        So it's abalone segments, applied all around the shell. In the video, you can see the pieces. This is not something I'd want or pursue, but to each his own.

            Whether technically a wrap or not, if it is finished as Eric says in "real abalone paua shell material" then it is a rare and very high quality product.

            The "paua" species is exclusive to the shores of New Zealand.

              Eric has been using the 6x6 on his last few tour kits since 2014 KISS/Def Leppard tour.
