No idea. Either that or the sound grew on me.

I use evans clear ec2 heads on my 10"-12"-14"-16" and18" toms amd ec2 resos on the toms also accept for the 16" and 18". For thos ei use ec resos. I use evans emadd on my bass batter and the stock pearl front bass head with evans eq pad in the bass drum and a kickport mounted on the front bass head. Monster cannon sounding reference kit with this head combination!!!

I tried the Emperor X on my snare briefly but it was a bit *too* heavy. For those of you who hit hard and want a "thud" it might work, but the typical coated emperor is better IMHO.

I have tried evans G2 coated over stock ambassador with excellent results and now use clear emperor with ambassador reso. Love both combinations. Anyone tried the evans g plus heads?

Okay..I'm going to venture out and reply on a 10 year old thread. My Evans UV2's just arrived! Can't wait to get them on the kit and all tuned up to see how they sound!
