Ask Dennis Chambers!!! hehehehe
IMO they look kinda strange, plus also it would be more difficult to get a hardcase for it because you'd have to order it in, and you wouldn't want to put your expensive bass drum in a soft bag now would you?
Maybe people have deeper bass drums to keep their gutarists a safe distance awayMy Reference Kit in Rootbeer Fade

not ref's, but you'll get the idea. I believe the green kit was part of Slip's old set....could be wrong though, don't remember the thread I got pics from. If in fact it is from Slip's old kit, it's a 20x22.
The red kit belongs to someone on the forum as well. And I believe that was a 22x22 or 24 de x 22 dia

Here is my issue. I am short. I love my 24" kicks, but I have learned that at my height, 9x10 and 10x12 rack toms do not fit good with me on 24's. I dont know if dropping to 8x10 and 9x12 will make much of a difference.
I am also afraid that 7x10 and 8x12 will look goofy with massive 18x24 kicks.Pearl Reference Drums - Sabian - Evans - Vater
