  • Reference Pure Kit Pics

Not sure why a RFP Pic thread hasn't been created yet, but I figured I might as well start one to post this pic. For the most part I dislike Black (and White) finishes on drum kits but I found this pic of a Reference Pure in Matte Black and its an absolutely Beautiful Kit! I would LOVE to see a better shot of this kit. This one is very narrow and limited, but nice to look at nonetheless.

      Wow, that is... wow.
One Brick of Vic Firth 5A wood tip hickory American Classics available. Got them as a prize for a drum competition, but I use 5B's. Very flexible on the pricing. PM for details.

That picture is sick. Is that finish available in the US?

Matte with satin looks like plastic. The Yamaha Rock Tour has a similar matte black finish with satin hardware and it looks like a toy.

^ not all of them are... they are a thinner ply version of the Reference.

I do believe that my next kit will either be a Pure or an MW in Pure specs... I love the whole premise behind these kits!

Yeah the Fat Tone hoops look great in person. I always wondered why the SuperHoops were elegantly engraved while the MasterCast hoops have a chintzy sticker.

I'm thinking about getting a set of the hoops and retro fit my 12x6.5 snare and my 12 and 16" toms. Anybody have a set yet?

I'm sure those hoops would be great on any reference or mcx kit.

DW 5000, Pearl modded P-102, P-120P & P-2002B. IC Powerglide. Many cymbals from the big 3.
Tiny pic of my old cymbal setup.

If you don't like the sound Die Cast hoops give. Yes. Fat Tone hoops are not designed to be "Better" then Die Cast. It's simply a different style of hoop offering a different sound.
