  • D-1000SPN Throne Slippage

Hello pdf, I have a Pearl D-1000SPN throne that I love and have been using for the last 5 years. I really like everything about it except that after 4~5 practice sessions, it noticeably lowers in height. i.e. the memory lock doesn't securely hold the height for very long.

I've attached a photo to show the wear on the main post/pole from the memory lock over time.

As of this moment it's nothing too major but I'm afraid that in the near future, the throne will become unusable. Can someone advise me on how to overcome this issue - should I get replacement parts (are there any and will this change anything?) or is this a design flaw that can't be overcome?

    Thanks in advance!

Happens to mine too, although it's even worse! It has been like it for a loooong time though, and i've never had an issue with it (bar moving it up every now and again). So I don't think it's anything to worry about

Given the design of the smooth shaft, this is bound to happen eventually.

Best best would be to get a throne with a threaded rod but you could try adding a thin piece of rubber inside of the memory lock. It would at least increase the friction.

        Thanks Artisan and playinpearls,

Would having 2 memory locks help...?

playinpearls/ Yes, the threaded model of the 1000 throne wasn't available when I made the purchase. The store I purchased from closed down, so warranty is quite useless now. I'll give the thin rubber trick a go.

You could try 2 memory locks also. But if you have 2 you might as well just replace the one that is slipping

I had a throne like that for about 6 months. Held up pretty good but it would give me a butt ache, lol. I never experienced any slipping unless the memory lock was not tight enough.

Sorry t hear your trouble the part numbers are SAP-100 for the post and the stop lock is DC-580A
I would suggest using a some metal sand paper to rough up the area on the inside of the stop lock and post where the lock grips. Doing this may help provide more traction. Do you feel you're getting enough bite from the stop-lock? Adding a stop lock could help.
