As far as I know Delmar USA produces and supplies all the major drum manufacturers, and has been for a very long time.
To be a drummer you also have to be a musician.

I know once you get the part numbers from Pearl, you can order the Pearl brand wraps from any dealer. PM Al or Gene with the sizes and color you want to see what info they can get you. They got me the numbers for wrap to redo my exports in the past, so I imagine they can help you as well.

As for old claws and badges, search the used market online, maybe eBay and anywhere else you could think of. That will probably be the only place to find parts for older kits. Best of luck!

The original covering on Pearl Fiberglass drums were most likely made in Japan and are no longer available. Some colors of current Pearl covering can be ordered and Al Percival can assist you on availability. alpercival@pearldrums.com

What are the wraps accually made of???? I'm thinking about painting my kit, airbrushing realistic flames on it. Any special coating or anything special I need to do to prep the drums?

K still didnt answer my question. Has anyone ever painted their drums over the wrap. I dont want to start into it.... get the drums scotchbrited and scuffed and then find out that their is some chemical agent in the wrap that will react with the paint and turn my kit into a big peace of blahhhhh

Gene did answer your question. If you click on those links you will see that drums wraps are made of either Cellulose Nitrate, Cellulose Acetate, or Flexible PVC (vinyl). If you take that info you can check with whatever kind of paint you are usnig to see how it reacts with those materials.

I have seen some pretty awful paint jobs, such as spray paint over wraps, but never anything with quality paints like what it sounds like you would be using. The only way you could be positive would be to buy a small piece of warp to test your paint on before you try it on your kit. You can get small sample pieces from almost all the companies that sell the to match colors. Get a small sample that matches what you have and give it a try.

That and ALWAYS use the appropriate primer under the paint. Best of luck!

I use auto paints and they arnt normally applied on anything but cars. There isnt any of those materials in or on cars so the dont give any info on things like that. I didnt know the manufactures would send samples...... thats what I will do!!! Ive painted alot of cars but never drums.... so its a lil new. who needs primer.................just playin lol

Red wine w/ ghosted realistic flames, then spray some pearl in the clear to go over the flames( so they change color in different lights). then probly 3 or 4 coats of reg clear to make her look DDEEEEEEP

That would be awesome....red wine is my favorite color Pearl wrap anyway. I am not sure how auto paint would affect the wrap material, but I have read a lot about people who get their wood drums refinished by auto paint shops. I guess they know what primer to use on the wood so it doesn't damage it. Same should be true for wraps. I know a lot of the places that sell wrap will send you a color sample to make sure what they have will match what you have. You could use that piece to test your paint on.
