Ive made the text into hyperlinks now, and will continue this way of working too. It just lets me no there'll be no problems from the reasons links were broken before

I use 2Bs, just because they fit my hand better than smaller sticks. What about everyone else?

i like dave weckl's sticks as well as 7a vic firths. i also enjoy playing the dennis chambers sigs from zildjian. the tip gives a clear distinct sound on my cymbals unlike no other stick ive played. i also like the roy haynes sig stick and it probably is my favorite stick of all. the but end is light and the stick is just a beauty to have. when i can i try to get the box of them instead of a single pair.

Those things are nice, the only problem is when your hands get sweaty coz they tend to slip more
I'm working on getting as much on as I can! So far my October holiday has been PDF university, but, hey, its fun

I disagree. I have found that they slip LESS in my hands when sweating it up, as they are more pourous and dissipate the moisture better.

Either way tho, I use Ahead grip tape as it maes it more comfortable on my hands, and reduces stick vibration somewhat. I use that tape on both wood and carbon sticks alike.

                      As a measure of longevity;

Vic Firth 5B hickory : lasted average 4 weeks
Vater 5B Hickory : Lasted average 5/6 weeks
CarboSticks : Lasted average 8 weeks
Ahead alloy : Lasted either 10 or 12 weeks (can't remember)

                      Prices (UK)

                      Vic Firth : £8 pr
                      Vater : £8.50 pr
                      Carbo : £10 pr
                      Ahead : £23 pr

So money vs longevity - Carbosticks win - least for me they do

That unusual. my drumstore even stopped brining in carbos cause so many people complained that they were bad

I did have to use a pair duiong one band practise tho - they werent terribly bad with slippiness but still a little problem for me

Just wanted to stop and say that Kev, you have been doing a great job with all of this and soon it will be one of the better forums on this...forum. Great job!

P.S.- I use Pro-Mark Hickory 3A, great sticks. I'd recommend them to anyone. PM me if you want any details!

To me they are the perfect stick. The only two points I can complain on is 1) there is no warning for when they snap - like Aheads they just go! And 2) they are a little tiny bit heavier, which is odd as carbon in general is usually lighter.

But to me they are the perfect stick - longevity is longer, they remain rigid and 100% as strong till the end as they did at day one (no "knawed" out section in the middle that weaken like wood sticks) and still have the same wood sound and feel to them. Add in the perfect weight match and they are 100% straight 100% of the time, I just can't find a better stick. for £2 more a pair I think it's worth it.

The only thing that might beat them might be a FIRBESTICK from the same company - a new half-carbon, half-fibreglass stick they have just brought out. I haven't tried them yet, but allegedly they are the same consistency and durability as the Carbosticks, but are lighter. Will get some in and try them soon Of course I will make a review post for you to link in here Kev
