  • What a great move Pearl!

I am very excited about this new direction Pearl is taking. Being able to acquire a Ref/Ref Pure kit/add-ons so quickly in an immense number finish choices is amazingly cool. Thanks Pearl!

Agreed. Love the miore and oyster choices, which is strange for me to say since I really didn't care for those types of wraps when I was younger.

I agree that this is a great thing! Only wondering whether they are only going to offer chrome hardware, or if you will have a choice. I just purchased a ref with black hardware, and would be excellent if I could order add ons for the kit!

I am considering following in my New Zealand friend's footsteps and adding a gong bass drum after my other house is sold. Afterwards, I will consider purchasing a Ref Pure Jazz-sized kit for a lighter gigging kit.

Agree, this is a nice idea, and should get plenty of attention. I hope it becomes a big success, so Pearl will add more shells into the mix.

I was wondering as well. In the video they put out, the wrap is on but no hardware and it looks very flush to the shell, like it has been glued the whole way around. But it could just be a very good job with a taped seam.

Not to disparage the request for info, but my 1988 MX is wrapped. Its been my primary kit up until about 2010 and gigged plenty. Wrap looks as good as the day it was purchased. No bubbles, discoloration, lifted seams, or anything. Just to say, taped wrap doesnt have to be poorly applied or have a short life span. And its much easier to rewrap a taped wrap shell than glued.

                          YMMV.

I'd be willing to bet that it's fully glued.
