  • Roland TM-2 module owners?

I'm thinking about getting one of these and I've looked at the specs arnd features but can't figure out something.

Is there a way to have a tablet (I use this to play along to a music playlist) work through the TM-2 so I can hear the music and the triggered sounds? Oh btw I'll be triggering just my snare a bass drum.

    Thanks

The TM-2 does not have an audio in. You'll need an external mixer to accomplish this.

Oh okay thanks for the quick reply

Would a headphone amp work? Or can you recommend a dedent small mixer?

      Thanks

So I know nothing about mixers I have a small space where my kit is and I'm using a 3-sided ICON rack

What's a good mixer that's small enough fit on the left side of my rack?

        Thanks

If you just need to connect the TM-2 and some music, grab a Mackie Mix5. Small, inexpensive, but built well and easy to use. I’ve been using a Mackie mini-mixer for over a decade and it’s held up like a tank even though I'm not super careful with it. You’ll connect the TM-2 to the line-in channels with 1/4” TS cables, and your tablet to the RCA inputs with an 1/8” to RCA y-cable.

            https://mackie.com/en/products/mixers/mix-series

If you want something even smaller and simpler, grab the Rolls PM351. You'd connect your TM-2 to the Instrument In using a Dual 1\4" TS to TRS y-cable, and your tablet to the Line Input using an 1\8" to 1\4" TRS cable. I use one of these live for monitoring, to blend my voice, electronic sounds and a monitor feed. It works great.

            https://rolls.com/product/PM351

Both options also feature a mic input, so you have the option of hanging a mic over your kit to blend the acoustic sounds into your headphone mix.

Drop a line if you ever have TM-2 questions. I work for Roland and use the TM-2 a ton.

Thanks for the hlep Miles Away

I think I might go for the Rolls because I just bought a 1/4" to 1/8" cable for my headphone amp but it's not loud enough.

I have to crank up the volume on the HPA to get a decent volume.

Would this Rolls mixer boost up the volume on my headphones?

I haven't had any issues hearing my voice\TM-2 over a loud band with it live, so I'd say yes. It's pretty powerful. What kind of headphones are you using?

Cool I might end up getting the Mackie Mix5 it's in-stock on MF and it's $40 cheaper than the Rolls PM351.

Also I'm gonna have to probably have to get a used Tm-2 $250 seems a bit expensive for something I may not like.

Hey Miles away is this the cable you're talking about to connect the TM-2 to the Rolls PM351?

Yeah, that's the one. The dual TS end will connect to the TM-2's output, and the single TRS end can connect to either the Instrument or Line input on the Rolls.
