Awesome setup man, I can't wait to hear some of your stuff! I'm coveting your istanbul cymbals like crazy! And I think I should've gone like your digimax to profire lightbridge route, 'stead of my lazy arsed straight firepod to pc route, cause I've heard great things about the digimax. Anyways, I'm sure it'll sound as cool as it all looks! Congrats man!

You're definately going to save money by using the firepod.

But i have had 1.5years of experience with pro-tools and couldnt really settle for any other sequencer so i bought a lightbridge which interfaces any channel strip not normall compatible with pro-tools with pro-tools via ADAT

The lightbridge and digimax route is considerably more expensive, but if you want pro-tools then its what you need to do.

Also il get some audio up soon so look out for it!

Ah, that's also a good reason to go that route! Are you going to go into professional recording?

As i'm only 18, i've just finished a performance based 2 year course at a college and got some good grades, but have been debating whether playing is right for me.

Production and editing have caught my eye through out the time at college and so im just pursuing it.

Im trying to get myself know around my local music scene.

I'm offering free recording sessions for local bands and solo projects at the moment and i've had a decent amount on interest.

Three groups have asked me to record for them, so the next month should be very busy.

I'd love to work in a studio but i need more experience before i start to look at any job within a studio.

How high are the centers of your woofers on your monitors? They appear to be quite low and I wouldn't be surprised if they're in a null location.

                  Nice setup.

Nice way of using the lightbridge so you can run PT.

It also looks as though he's mixing from a bean bag so it should be all sweet!

Haha! I'd love to mix from a bean bag but I'd have to put it on a decent pedestal so I'd be at an good height for mixing.

I've changed from the bean bag so don't worry guys.
That pic is a few weeks old and i've bought a rocking car seat chair thing.

Its an ex lee longlands line thing and its saving my back.

That bean bag was KILLING my neck.

The woofers seem fine to me, what should i be looking out for, for that null?

                          Cheers guys

Man, that is exactly the situation I'm in! ('cept the college bit, i'm only 17, in my last year of secondary... )
I've done a few mess recordings with friends and friends of friends, and I'd love to get more into it. Only problem is, it seems that if you want to be an audio engineer, you need to have your own studio, and there are a good few studios already in Dublin. It's the only thing I'm really interested in right now. I've to fill in my college application form in a few months and I seriously don't know which way to jump...

We should build a boat and both sit in it.

I know what you mean... Before i thought about starting to record local bands i was looking for studios to get a job making coffee and stuff.

I don't think its the kind of job you can fall into or get offered unless you really know the right people.

Apply at studios, see if they need and extras hands and take it from there

                              Good luck!
