Hello everyone!
I am about to order a Pearl Masterworks snare, and wanted it to have a hybrid bearing edge (fully rounded top, 45° bottom), but my rep said, hybrid bearing edges would be something DW had patented and they wouldn't be doing anymore.
Is that actually true?
If so, how would other companies (Sonor Gavin Harrison snare, Craviotto, Yamaha, Tama etc.) be able to do still make them?
Even Troy Wrights Masterworks snare has that bearing edge combination, and I assume he ordered it around 2019.
So maybe something changed afterwards?
I DID find a patent of DW on bearing edges, but that one seems much more like a patent on a specific kind of hybrid bearing edge:
If you look here:
http://www.dwdrums.com/info/legal.asp
and then look up the patent number, this is what shows up:
https://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?PageNu...F6%2C525%2C250
Maybe someone knows more about this and can help me out.
Thanks in advance!
