  • Carbon Fiber drums-- any reviews?

Now that Pearl is making their Carbon Fiber line publicly
available, I was wondering if any one has bought/played
these drums (snares or whole kits) and could shed any
insight on sound differences from regular maple, birch, etc.

    Thanx...

    Hey,
I haven't played Pearl's version of the carbon-fibre drums, but I used to be a Rocketshells endorser, and those are the same material. The bass drums and snare drums sounded great, but the toms lacked a little depth. The tunability was nice, but the overall feel was noticebly "colder." I, obviously, have switched back to Pearl drums, but would like to see if there are any differences in what Pearl's line of those drums sound like.

I have a Carbon Ply set for almost 7 months now, and I'm still a happy drummer...
I have "experienced" with some different heads the first few days and I have made my choice with Remo clear ambassador on the toms and a powerstroke on the bass drum.
To me, the overall sound has a great attack and I love the tunability of this set...

If I were you, I'd give it a try!!!

        Stainlessly,
