Hi everyone! I'm selling my drumset after years of good use and I was curious what I should be selling it for, price wise. I've checked all over the internets and there are prices ranging from 700 for the shell pack, to closer to 2k. I am no drum expert so I was hoping to get some advice on what a fair asking price would be. Any help is appreciated.

So many variables and how quickly you want a sale etc. Looking at Ebay sold items that are similar will give you a very good idea as to what drums like these are actually selling for. Ultimately its worth what someone is preapred to buy it for.
Another way might to be find out what an equivalent shell pack like this costs new and take a proportion of that (e.g. half) as a guide price.
The thing with higher end drums is that its more likely people will want a specific colour or shell sizes, unless they can grab a bargain.Pearl Prestige Session Select SRX 1998 in black mist

I recently (last July) bought a 6 piece Masters Studio Birch (1993 first run MBX) plus all hardware, pro grade cymbals (14" Zildjian New Beat hi hats, Zildjian Med Thin 16" Crash, Sabian 22" AA ride), and 2 thrones for $800. Shells were in excellent shape, just needed a good cleaning. From what I have seen, older kits take a long time to move unless they are priced right.Pearl MBX in White Mist 10,12,13,16,22 w/14x6.5
Zidjian 14" New Beats, Zildjian Medium Thin Crash, Sabian AA Ride

Zildjian 13" A Custom hats, Dream Contact Crashes, Zildjian A Medium Ride

Beautiful kit! I'm selling my Vintage Pearl Wood Fiberglass Chrome kit (mfr'd in Taiwan in the early 70's) I added all brand new accessories: Ludwig 400 series hardware kit, Zildjian cymbals (including A Series 14" New Beat hi-hats, Remo ambassador coated drum heads, e-rings, Vic Firth drum sticks and more...
I checked Craigslist (all 50 States) and E-bay and found extremely few listings -none of which even begin to compare to what I'm offering. I'm asking $1895. (or best respectful offer) There are those who will say 'that's too much" and other's who will say that's a great price. Having been in sales for over 60 years my experience is that if a person really wants something badly they will pay the price. Here's a pic of just the drums. If you want to see all 24 pics go to Craigslist and search: New Jersey - Musical Instruments - Drums - Vintage Pearl Wood Fiberglass $1895.Good luck with your sale. PS. You may want to consider doing what I did and put together and offer a complete kit. Not everybody already owns just the hardware, cymbals etc...

Last summer I sold my Midnight Fade kit but it was a mix ,kick & 16 Tom were BRX and the rest were MMX in the same sizes . It sold for $800 I was asking $850. It took about a month on CL.. I agree with Bodgit on high end drums especially on CL. I became frustrated with the gmail ,third party ,lowball special ones .
20 years ago your kit new sold for about $2,500.00 but no one will care when they are trying to work a deal. The only reason I sold mine was to finance a MHX I found at GC. I wish I still had that kit but it was worth sacrificing. Good Luck maybe start out at $900.00.Wiscaansin!

Thank you for your feedback. I have been in sales for 60 years, mostly tangibles and quite a variety of those. I have successfully sold quite a few complete kits over the years...however, I have listed my Pearl kit in two separate ways on craigslist and on ebay (local pickup only) : #1 Just the drums only and #2 the complete package kit. Somebody will bite.

You added a $150 hardware pack and maybe $100 to $200 in cymbals and you want $1,850. Good luck. Assuming that there is someone out there that wants that shell pack and is willing to pay way more than market value, they aren’t going to want the cheapest hardware pack on the market and some old cymbals of your choosing. I think you’ll be lucky to get $750. $1,850 on the used market buys a really nice shell pack. $1,850 on the new market buys a really nice shell pack.

Thank you for your feedback and for your opinions. All opinions are welcome and that's exactly what they are...merely different opinions. That you feel that I paid $200 too much for the drums is simply your opinion. Others have expressed the opposite- (not here in this one particular forum) but my local drum friends, that I got a good deal for the mint condition that they are in, considering their age. The package I put together consists of more than I may have divulged in my earlier post. FYI, the cymbals I added are A Brand New Zildjian A Series 14" New Beats Hi-Hats, a beautiful Instanbul 18" Brilliant Xist Crash and another Zildjian A 20" Medium Ride - both in mint like-new condition. trust me, they were more than $200. I also added all brand new Remo Ambassador Drum Heads, E-Rings, Vic Firth drum sticks, a new throne, Zildjian cymbal polish, Never Dull Chrome Polish. I always list my drum kits in two ways: #1 -Just the 5 drums #2 a complete package. I have been in sales (tangibles) for 60 years. I have been successfully selling drum kits on the side for quite a few years and for the most part I get my asking price. I find incredible, top name brand drum deals on Craigslist (because the owner's just want to get rid of them and don't ask for a lot (or what they're really worth) and I resell them for at least $300-$400 more, easily. Will I get $1895 for this setup? Maybe, maybe not. if a person truly likes and wants something, and as far as they are concerned the price works for them...so be it. Would I take less than $1895? Yes, so long as it's a respectable (but not low ball) offer. Warmest regards, Thomas
